The current Grandcypher Kitchen menu rotation features Lucifer and Sandalphon

Ever since the announcement of this latest menu at the Grandcypher Kitchen, I’ve been wanting to go and check it out for myself. This was the first time for me to go, so it was a lot of fun! The staff was also super helpful and even enthusiastically helped me find various Sandalphon related items in the menu. Not only that, but one worker mentioned that they currently didn’t have the new 12-wing Limited Sandalphon, but…!? It seems like they’ll be adding him to the menu at some point in the future!! I’m really curious how they’d fit all 12 wings into the latte art…

▶︎ The Menu

▲ 33rd menu rotation at the Granblue Fantasy Grandcypher Kitchen. Featured characters include Lucifer, Sandalphon, Galleon, and Fediel.

Every patron is given two placemats, one that features the special characters for the current menu and and another that features a singular character. I got Vira (Valentine), which you can see in the 3rd photo here.

▶︎ Pre-meal Latte Art

Latte art is sort of a staple for many themed cafes and restaurants throughout Japan, but I was really impressed with the quality of the illustrations that they were able to make. I’m not one who really knows how it’s done, so maybe it’s not that hard, but still I appreciated the fine details. Sandalphon was so cute, I didn’t want to drink and destroy the cute illustration… haha

▶︎ Main Dish and Desserts

And with many similar themed cafes, the food is generally OK — not really the greatest, but not bad either, but I was really quite impressed with the quality of the items that I ordered. Maybe my excitement to order the LuciSan dishes helped make everything taste that much better. *blush*

  • Lucifer’s masterpiece white cream pasta – 1,430 rupies
  • Cabbage rolls for a life of light – 1,210 rupies
  • Inherited chardonnay soda – 880 rupies
  • Inherited milk tea coffee – 990 rupies
  • Millennium honey cafe con leche – 990 rupies
  • Sandalphon’s special coffee sundae – 1,100 rupies

I’m also not the biggest fan of coffee, so I wasn’t sure if I’d like the coffee jelly sundae, but it was really good! The cinnamon coffee was also really good!

And in case anyone asks, I brought my own LuciSan plushies purely to take cute photos like this! Taking a quick peek at other patrons in the cafe, I was not the only one taking similar photos… heehee

▶︎ Interactive Interior Map

Google Maps has a really nice interactive map of the Grandcypher Kitchen that you can check out above!

Definitely, if you’re a Granblue Fantasy fan, I would suggest checking out the Grandcypher Kitchen in Akihabara. It’s also super easy to make reservations. Check here for the English reservation page.

“Granblue Fantasy” adds a new 12-winged version of Sandalphon

❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

With the new Gala Draw update, we now have the chance to draw a new version of Sandalphon with 12 wings. I am literally beside myself right now. He is so pretty.

Unfortunately, I used all of my crystals during the last special event to try and get the 000 summon and utterly failed. On the other hand, I was saving a Siero Ticket just in case something super important like this might drop… and LO AND BEHOLD! It’s kinda sad I couldn’t get the satisfaction of drawing him myself, but this is better than missing out completely! I’m so happy!!

Here’s a quick look at some of his stats and more! And yes, I’ve already uncapped and leveled him up to max! xD

The glorious Siero Ticket that made my dreams come true!

This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen…

Oh gosh, and guess who’s currently trending now in Japan!? Yup, you guessed it! SANDALPHON!!

And just a couple hours later… more people are talking about Sandy. ❤️

I can’t get over how gorgeous he is! I really hope that Cygames will capitalize on this and make some great merch out of this! I need a huge tapestry of this to plaster on my wall!

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising

Granblue Fantasy Versus is a 2.5D fighting game developed by Arc System Works for the PlayStation 4 and was released in Japan on February 6, 2020. Its sequel, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, was just released on December 14, 2023, and features many updates, including lobby-based mini games that can be enjoyed across the network with other online players.

▶︎ Story Mode

Rising comes with a compelling new story mode that introduces a new character, Rein, voiced by Maki Kawase.

▶︎ Digital Figure

Other fan-favorite features include the digital figures of characters that can be posed and displayed in several different stage settings. The following are just a few poses that I made.

For fans of Sandalphon, like me, we were given a new Sandalphon model with 3 styles: 6 wings, rocker-style outfit, standard standing. Also, be sure to complete the Story Mode because… this one illustration is EVERYTHING!

And while we’re on the subject, let’s take another look at which characters are fan favorites to be included into the game at some point. This list was from 2022, and as you can see, Sandalphon is the absolute fan favorite across the entire globe, including all regions.

▶︎ Upcoming DLCs!

▲ Although he’s been little more than an NPC thus far, there is rumor that he will finally be playable with the upcoming characters that will be revealed periodically throughout next year. Lucilius is the first DLC to be released as part of the Character Pass Part 1 schedule, followed by five additional characters as follows:

  • 1st: Lucilius – Available Now
  • 2nd: ??? – Late February
  • 3rd: ??? – April
  • 4th: ??? – May
  • 5th: ??? – Summer
  • 6th: ??? – Fall

▶︎ SPECULATION: I’m going to predict that Sandalphon will be the 2nd DLC character to be revealed simply because that will be leading into the Granblue Fantasy 10th Anniversary at the beginning of March, specifically March 10.

▲ The 9th fighting championship event was just held this past Saturday, hosting an IRL event comprised of 60 participants.

▶︎ Lobby Island

The lobby area is a sort of online hub that you can connect to and have fun playing a bunch of mini games with other players. Just exploring around the island is a lot of fun. I’m pretty sure I was able to explore the whole area, but I was unable to find a cut out standee for Sandalphon… Maybe they’ll add him if/when he’s made into a playable character. The mini games are also pretty fun, so for someone like me who doesn’t play many fighting games, this at least gives me something more to enjoy, since I’m not interested in competitive battles.

So anyway, I guess if Sandalphon is added to the roster of playable characters that might give me a reason to play more and “get good.” We’ll see…

New acrylic stand of the Sandalphon (Valentine) uncap art available at Granblue Fantasy Fes 2023 this December

The annual Tokyo edition of the Granblue Fantasy Fes will be taking place this coming December 23-24 at Tokyo Big Sight. Tickets have already gone on sale back in October, but single tickets should still be available for anyone who might like to go.

The event official site lists a bunch of new merchandise that will be available and I about gasped out loud when I saw this gorgeous acrylic stand of Sandalphon’s Valentine illustration. This is an absolute must-have!

Although I would much rather have a nice tapestry of this illustration instead, I will still gladly throw my money at Cygames for more Sandalphon merch to fill my already crowded shrine to the gorgeous Supreme Primarch.

  • Hologram Acrylic Stand (Sandalphon Valentine Version) – 2,500 yen (tax included)

As you can see, it has the same kind of colorful hologram effects that the one from the 2022-2023 Fes had, which you can see below.

Cygames reminds us just how hot Summer can be with a splash of Sandalphon

Cygames Magazine Archives 15275 | Cygames

EDITORIAL

In the massively popular online game Granblue Fantasy by Cygames, holidays and events that take place throughout the year are featured in a multitude of different ways such as special events and stories, and the highly coveted, rare skins for your favorite characters.

Just today, the official Cygames PR account on Twitter posted about an older article that was written in 2021 about enjoying the four seasons within their many video game titles, one of course being Granblue Fantasy. The page was setup with the intention to help those stuck at home due to the pandemic to get a small taste of the changing seasons while staying snug and safe at home.

Although this is an older post (I honestly don’t remember seeing some of these illustrations!), it’s slightly curious that Cygames would write about it now all of a sudden, but it seems to be related to their online magazine “CyMaga” (サイマガ, short for Cygames Magazine) which archives articles such as this. The tweet merely introduces the various seasonal events and illustrations from each title and various articles that were published in 2021.

This also includes comments by the artist, so as a devoted Sandalphon fan, I felt I needed to discuss this a little bit here.

In this article, the illustrators introduce their thoughts on creating their illustrations and other ideas. This depicts different variations for Sandalphon’s (Summer) final uncap illustration.

Illustrator’s Comment:
I made this illustration because I thought Sandalphon at twilight would make a great picture. I hope everyone can freely imagine what he’s thinking and what/who he’s looking at.

When coming up with seasonal designs for characters, my approach began by prioritizing the character’s core traits and interests. This ensures that the character’s fundamental essence and hobbies remain intact while also unveiling a fresh perspective. I came up with many ideas during this initial design phase. I also received helpful feedback from other team members who are avid Sandalphon fans, which helped to reduce these ideas down to three possible options. Lastly, I chose the most harmonious illustration, characterized by a sailor-like outfit and a solemn atmosphere.

Yes, I absolutely can imagine what he’s thinking and who he’s looking at… and I think most Sandalphon fans share the same sentiment.

◀︎ This is the main Sandalphon (Summer) design prior to the final uncap illustration. It was drawn with the intention of expressing the freshness of the sea breeze with the billowing of his clothes. Additionally, his bag is said to contain a simple first aid kit and motion sickness pills (since he got seasick on the Grandcipher).

▲ Here are a few design sketches before the final one was decided. I’m really glad that they went with the red hood because I think it accentuates his red eyes really well.

▲ These are some rough designs for the uncap illustration. Although the one on the bottom left was ultimately decided upon, the other designs are also really good. Especially, this one:

▲ Once again, yes. I can imagine who’s hand that could be… I really hope we get to see something similar to this in the future.

▲ What’s also fun to note here is that we finally got a Bonus Pose aka the “EX Pose” for Sandalphon (Summer), which was released earlier this past July. We can definitely imagine what’s happening here on our own, not to mention arguing whether that’s just water on his face or actually tears, but once again, I’d have to argue that the majority of Sandalphon fans probably already have a good idea of what’s going through his mind here…

Please stop by again for more Sandalphon fangirling. ❤️
